Adult acne is increasing

It seems that, just a generation ago, we would go through our teen years with the threat of acne hanging over us but, once the hormones had settled down, the pimples slowly disappeared and our skins were free. Now things are changing. The scientists tell us this has nothing to do with the fact we now eat less healthy diets and exercise less. Perhaps it's a change in the environment. There's all this talk about more pollution thanks to all the vehicles driving around and the coal-fired power stations. Who knows. All we can say is the problem is now affecting up to half the adult female population and up to about a quarter of men aged more than 25. This is a real and significant change. Just when we all thought it was safe to go out and show our faces in public, we're suddenly hiding away again and looking for quick fixes over the counter in the drugstores.

Let's get the boring biology out of the way. The hormone levels in women have always been changeable both through the menstrual cycle, the menopause and, particularly, during pregnancy. In the last century, a small percentage of adult women always did have acne problems. This was tolerated during pregnancy because it's only a relatively short-term event. Now these fluctuations of hormone levels are growing more pronounced, more women are affected during menstruation and, much to their surprise, during the menopause. One of the standard ways of combatting this is to use oral contraceptives. This reinforces the level of estrogen and helps keep the skin clear. Exfoliation or using a microdermabrasion product can help. Skin products containing benzyl peroxide or salicylic acid will keep most outbreaks under control. Other than this, it usually comes down to wearing less make-up and considering the use of an anti-inflammatory or, even, an antibiotic if the skin does not clear naturally. The bad news, however, comes from the American Academy of Dermatology, showing that outbreaks of adult acne are lasting longer and increasingly affecting people into their 40s. Perhaps it's a general increase in the stress of modern living. If it's affecting you, talk to a doctor about any drugs you might be taking. Some can affect the skin.

If all else has failed, Accutane is the answer. To keep the risks to acceptable levels, you should discuss the issue with your primary care physician. There are risks to all if you exceed the dosage or take the drug for too long. For women, there remains the problem of avoiding pregnancy. Within the system, this is achieved by the iPledge program. If you find this too intrusive, you must use at least one guaranteed method for avoiding conception. In this, note the irony. Taking an oral contraceptive often relieves acne. So, always take the right precautions. This should allow the Accutane to work its magic and cure the problem during the first round of treatment. If the first round is not completely effective, wait and then try a second. But if you still have the problem, always take medical advice before taking any more.

Benefits of Carrot Juice - Homemade Skin Care

There are many benefits of carrot juice for the body, including the skin. Carrots contain essential vitamins, minerals and nutrients for overall health. The juice is not only used for consumption, it's made for making homemade soap! It's found in many commercial and homemade skin care products.

Health Benefits:

Carrots contain vitamin A in the form of beta-carotene. Drinking carrot juice can help maintain good vision, increases the body's immunity, remove indigestible fibers, help in the prevention of cancer, heart disease and strokes. It contains natural sugars, so those that are diabetic would want to drink fewer amounts.

The juice may not be appealing, for some, to drink all by itself, so add or mix it with other fruit juices to enhance its flavor. By doing so, you will be adding nutrients to your drink! Consider tasty combinations such as: carrots and bananas, carrots and pineapples, carrots and oranges, carrots and mango or carrots and blackberries. Using juice made from fresh fruits or vegetables, instead of the bottled kind, maximizes the benefits of overall health. A daily glass of carrot juice, (8 oz.), can make a healthful difference! The body will not absorb drinking more than this amount.

Skin Care Benefits:

Carrot juice can offer beautiful natural skin care. The benefits of vitamin A and C are healthful for skin. Vitamin A is essential for body tissue growth. It provides antioxidants benefits, attacking free radicals, which can cause pre-mature wrinkles, eczema, dermatitis and rashes. The antioxidants can act as a natural sunblock and help in healing sunburns. The benefits of vitamin C helps promote skin elasticity, with collagen production. This juice helps improve uneven skin tone, prevents scars, revitalizes skin, helps get rid of blackheads, provides acne relief, has anti-inflammatory properties, promotes smooth, soft and supple skin.

Fresh juice contains other healthful nutrients: vitamin K benefits, folate, manganese, B6, panthenic acid, potassium, iron and copper. When drinking it with water, it keeps the body and the skin well hydrated. Just be careful and do not drink too much carrot juice. It can, temporarily, turn your complexion a yellowish-orange color. It's found in many commercial and homemade skin care products: soaps, face cream, lotions and more.

Making Homemade Soap:

Since carrot juice offers such wonderful skin care benefits, it's used as a soap making oil. Goats milk soap contains alpha-hydroxy acids and rich butter fat that provide moisture to skin. When making homemade soap, such as goats milk soap, you can add this juice with many other skin nourishing oils. To give your soap a beautiful orange color, substitute carrot juice for water in a 1:1 ratio. In soaps, it will dull over time, but gives a beautiful, fresh, look to finished homemade soap. Consider blending goats milk, comfrey and carrot juice for a nice bar of soap. Another natural soap combination is a blend of carrots, buttermilk, honey and avocado oil.

Consider drinking carrot juice, made from fresh carrots, as a daily intake. Also, consider using commercial or homemade beauty products made with this juice. Carrot juice offers good vitamin A and vitamin C benefits plus other nutrients for, overall, health of the body and the skin.

Winter skin care one: skin care products should not be used indiscriminately Metro metabolism decreased in winter, reduce sebum, so prone to pigmentation. Therefore, after taking off makeup, use the replenishment-based skin care products to maintain your skin immediately. Know your hair cycle and how to prevent hair loss!

Know your hair cycle and how to prevent hair loss!

Hair loss is also medically known as alopecia is a state of having no hair, thinning hair or lacking hair where it commonly grows.

Today, some people revealed a lot of herbs claiming it will stop hair loss and enable hair to grow are on the market and have been discuss a lot on different articles. Let us know our hair cycle and what really causes hair loss and how can we stop it.

Hair Cycle or Hair Growth
Hair follicle is a small complicated organ which is part of your skin. Some of the important parts are: sebaceous gland, blood and lymph vessels and arrector pilli muscle.

• Sebaceous gland produces sebum that protects your hair from becoming dry and brittle. However, too much produce sebum can cause oily scalp.
• Blood and lymph vessels are the source of energy and nutrient for your skin and hair follicles.
• Arrector pilli muscle is a soft muscle that is attached to your hair follicle is responsible for making our hair strands up or raising the hair to catch the heat to keep you warm.

The hair grows for around 1,000 days and then rests for a period of 100 days. This "Hair Cycle" varies between individuals and is influenced by age, diet and state of health. The old hair from the last "Hair Cycle" may remain in the follicle and not be dislodged by daily hair care products, but it will be displaced by the new hair as it grows up the follicle. Hair length is controlled by the length of the growing phase which is Anagen.

The stronger the follicle the longer the hair will grow. Weak hair roots render the hair not only unable to grow longer; they are not able to hold on to the hair, Therefore they get detached. We all lose hair naturally every day. As long as new hair is produced at the same rate as those falling out, there will be no difference in the density of the hair. But if shedding is greater than production, hair loss ensues. Hair thickness varies between individuals. Some finer while others coarser. As we grow older, there is a tendency for our hair fibres to become finer and shorter over excessive cycles.

Hair grows from inside a hair bulb deep in a hair follicle (root). Mostly a few hair can grow from one follicle. Each hair grows for a few years. When one hair drops off, (50 – 100 hair a day) a new hair should grow in its place. A good healthy follicle should reproduce hair by itself. This is the hair cycle.

Causes of Hair Loss
The follicle is hidden under the scalp. It is connected to the blood vessels and nerves and feeds through the dermal papilla. Stress and medication affects the health of the follicle. These are the other causes of hair loss: dietary deficiencies, crash dieting, high grade fever, anemia, blood loss, hormonal imbalance, pregnancy, skin disease and bacterial infections. Aside from this, if the dermal papilla is under-nourished by the blood vessels or stressed, it becomes too weak to support new hair growth. In other words, more hair seems to be lost without replacement, thus resulting hair-loss. Other kind reason of hair loss is genetic or hereditary hair condition. Some scientist and doctors are still not able to determine the causes to genetic hair condition but suspect that it has everything to do with the family’s blood makeup and diet habits.

Some people who experience hair loss had tried different ways to solve it but hair growth is somehow a problem for people with hair loss. Somewhat, thinning hair or alopecia is a condition that is caused by aging and also genetics. There are a lot of unknown reasons why hair loss is raising right now even on a very early age. It is important to remember that hair loss condition or scalp problem do not go away by themselves it needs abrupt solution to stop it. They can only worsen if left unattended. We advise anyone who has problems with their hair loss to act immediately to regain them.

Natural Products that Can Help
Prevention is better than cure, so better avoid shampoos and other hair products that will damage the hair follicles and contribute to hair loss. Commercially manufactured shampoos, conditioners, hair dyes and other hair care products that contain chemicals which can damage hair should be avoided. Always purchase gentle, organic, natural hair care products. You can also seek treatment to hair care centre that uses all natural herbs for their hair loss treatment, hair growth treatment and alopecia areata treatment. to insure the safety of your hair.

The 5 Most Important Rules to Wearing Red Lipstick

1. If you are wearing a bold lip, go easy on the rest of the face. Red is a color that catches attention. Think raccoon-ish eyes+clown-ey blush+red lips=total hot mess. A great tip is to do a natural eye, with just two coats of mascara to your top and bottom lashes to open up your eyes. The rule is: If you want to play up your eyes, go for a nude lip. If you want to play up your lips, go for a natural eye. It's as simple as that.

2. Use a liner to keep the color from bleeding. Use a liner and fill in your lips first before putting on the lipstick. Just think of it as putting rubber stoppers on the bottom of your carpet to keep it from slipping.

3. Know your right shade. People who have a pinkish undertone in their skin are most likely going to go well with a lipstick that has a cool undertone. Plum-based colors are best for this. For those who have yellow undertones in their skin, lipsticks that have warmer reds are their best bet. If you still don't know what kind of shade you are, there are some ways to determine your shade.

4. If you are wearing red lipstick, tone down your nail color. For you to be able to rock that elegant and sophisticated chic, opt for pale looking nail colors such as pale pinks and peaches. If red is really your thing, however, choose a shade that is closest to your lip color.

5. If a lip color doesn't go well on you, don't throw it out. Instead, try mixing it with different shades. Try to treat it like creating different shades for a painting. Try experimenting with color, and have fun while doing it too. If a shade is too bright, you can try toning it down with a more neutral color. If it's too dark, try mixing it with brighter colors.

As you can see, it's really not that difficult for you to find your own individual color. By just following the rules on wearing red lipstick, you can never go wrong. Remember, there are various shades and textures to choose from. Go for a matte lipstick if you want to go for a classic look. If you want to add more drama and glamour, you can put on a little bit of gloss.

The Importance Of Choosing The Right Hair Care Products

Bumble & Bumble are one of Estee Lauder's twenty-seven companies that originally started as a New York Salon in 1977 and went on to become a name in hair care products. Hair care has always been an area of much interest for salon owners and customers alike and experimenting with the mane has generated a widespread interest in revolutionary hair care products and beauty regimes.

Hair is what each of us loves to experiment with and it naturally demands a whole lot of pampering to keep growing healthy. Hair abuse has become frequent with new trends encouraging straightening and perming, coloring and highlighting, styling hair through heat application, all of which are bound to have an adverse effect on the natural growth of your hair.

Effects of such hair experimentations can lead to damaged and dry hair which can make you look unattractive. Bumble & Bumble can help you take good care of your tresses by launching superior hair care products. In 1990, Bumble & Bumble hair care products hit the market with their first offering, the Brilliantine, and have been catering to the cosmetic industry for the last two decades.

Bumble & Bumble products are popular because they focus on revitalizing and nourishing the hair and the scalp so that the hair growth is enhanced, the follicles grow stronger, and the hair looks better and lasts longer without needing painstaking maintenance. Bumble & Bumble is famous for producing hair care products that can take care of any kind of hair type, whether dry and frizzy hair, totally damaged tresses, or average healthy hair.

The first hair beauty product from Bumble & Bumble to hit the cosmetic world was the Brilliantine which offers the hair a special sheen and is compatible for all hair types. The thickening hairspray launched by this hair care brand is easy to apply and helps to add volume to otherwise thin and limp-looking tresses. You can simply dab it onto wet hair for great styling advantages.

Bumble & Bumble also came up with several hair powders to suit specific hair colors- like separate powders for platinum blondes, for those with brown hair, for the black-haired etc. These powders help to highlight each color and you can apply them after oiling your hair.

Bumble & Bumble hair care products are secret weapons that every fashion-conscious individual must own to make sure your hair is cared for, now and always. Choosing the right hair care products is very important because a product that is not suited for your hair type can do more harm than good.

Remember to focus on the ingredients and brands before buying any hair care product. Research on the various brands and select one that is known to have a proven track record of coming out with products that have delivered brilliant results. Glossy advertisements and commercials tend to confuse consumers about the right hair care products but you need to be careful while buying to avoid more damage. Ideally, you will need a good hair shampoo that suits your hair type, a conditioner which can strengthen and repair damaged tresses, and styling products like mousse, gels and hair sprays to get the perfect hairdo.
